Ge Baek
The player will show here
Ge Baek is named after a great general in the Baek Je Dynasty (660 A.D.). The diagram represents his severe and strict military
discipline. This pattern has 44 movements.
New Techniques
If the attacking tool approaches the target area in an outcurved line the kick can be called a twisting kick. A low twisting
kick is used to attack the opponent in the front. The foot should be vertical to the target at the moment of impact for the
low twisting kick. The inner thigh presents the best target for this kick, and the ball of the
foot is the attacking tool in this pattern, though the knee and the toes can also be used in other applications.
The 9-shape block is used to break the elbow joint, wrist or ankle. It can also be employed to block a co-ordinated hand and
foot attack against the solar plexus and lower abdomen. If the right arm ends up as the lower arm, it is called a right 9-shape
block. If the left arm ends up as the lower arm, it is called a left 9-shape block. For a right 9-shape block, the left arm must
reach the target in a straight line while the right one reaches in an arc.
For the front strike with back fist the opponent's philtrum is the primary target. Be sure to bring the other back fist under
the elbow of the attacking fist.

The double arc-hand block is used to block a coordinated attack against the chest and the face. In this pattern, this block
is executed from a walking stance in the form of a reverse block. The blocking tools should reach the target in a straight line.
Keep the body half-facing the target at the moment of the block.
The middle knuckle fist requires a maximum snap motion with a sharp twist of the fist during the action, in particular when
attacking the solar plexus. The fist reaches the solar plexus in an uppercut motion with the back fist facing downward, while the
opposite side fist is brought in front of the shoulder at the moment of impact.
The reverse knife-hand blocking tool reaches the target in either a straight line or circular motion when executing a low
block. The reverse knife-hand generally forms a parallel line with the opposite knife-hand. The distance between the knife-hand
and the lower abdomen is about 3 centimeters. The elbow of the blocking arm is slightly bent inward. The forearm becomes parallel to
the thigh.

Additional Information
In move 33, the left foot must shift by slightly hopping toward A about half a shoulder width, because the turning kick with the
right foot must be executed at a 45 degree angle. In order to hit a target in the Back that is perpendicular to the position of the
body in the previous step, the shift is necessary to create the 45 degree. The attacking tool is the ball of the foot.
